I have a trip planned for next month entering at fall lake and headed up to basswood. I will have three days to fish either jackfish or pipestone bays. Anyone care to share some spots to catch a few walleye. I'm not looking for your secret spot or anything, just a place to start I guess. I've never had much luck with walleye in the bwca. I'm just hoping for a fish dinner one night.

Heading the same way on the 3rd next month hoping to end up in Horse for a few days. My informants tell me that trolling for large pike is the best anywhere from 8-20 feet at the dropoffs. Or my best luck has been casting toward shore for smallies. As for eyes, I usually only fish for them an hour before sunset by jigging a leech or minnow in a small basin. In August, I would goes 15-30 ft deep. Good luck!

Jackfish Bay and Horse Lake are the only two things that ever bring me to the west side of the BWCA.
