Taking all three chitlins up for their first canoe trip and want to show em some good fishing. quantity matters, not quality. other than the obvious, would anyone care to share some good spots and baits for the lake? We wont be keeping anything as my children refuse to be a part of the slaughtering of nature, "just bring steak and chicken dad". LOL
Who I am precedes what I do, not the other way around.
I think there are many spots in that lake. I spent a week there and found one in particular that always produced but I can't describe it without pointing at a map. All I can say it was about 100 yards off the point of an island where I could see a rock that came to withing 5 feet of the surface. I was there in August and all the fish we caught were in the main basin of the lake usually near some structure.
I may be thinking of the same spot...on the north end maybe? My wife and I trolled rattl'n raps up this structure until you could see rocks below the canoe (2'-4' down) and that's when the eyes would hit. The raps come through the rocks pretty decent and might be good for the kids. Once you hook a few and lock down a spot you shnould be able to slip bobber and leech them.
