First time on the eastern side of the BWCA after many years going out of Ely. I've always had great luck using a plain 1/4 oz jig head (gold, black, orange, etc.) tipped with a leech. I'm guessing the same thing will work on the eastern side too. Any other recommendations?

The bass will bite damn near anything. No walleyes in either lake. Just lake trout and smallmouths. And the lake trout will be really deep this time of year.

That's about right. They will hit on Rapala's, Mepps spinners, leeches, worms, spoons. If you fish with artificial baits stick with the smaller sizes.
