I used to be all about the fish but not so much anymore for a solo. I am planning a solo that is not a fishing trip but however I do like to eat fish once a day. I like the echo trail area (Ely Proximity). I'm not a big pusher/ mover. I am content just about anywhere, so I don't have to move every day. What might you recommend.

I think you describe most of the boundary waters.

I might recommend the Little Indian Sioux River North. I did a short solo up that way a couple years ago-could easily have been extended in duration without moving. I really like the area because of the smaller bodies of water (excepting Loon, LLC)-paddling solo I prefer smaller less wind prone lakes, or better yet rivers. I went up to the Paunesses-over to Shell and camped there for a night. The next day I ventured thru Lil Shell, Lynx, Heritage and over to Loon. Worked my way back down to Upper Pauness for the last night. Could easily go further east and or north to extend a trip or explore and fish with less camp relocation. Shell is known to be a pretty good Walleye lake. I think Lynx has some fish and Heritage IIRC some decent pike. If you venture further Oyster holds Lakers, Gebe is supposed to be a really good fishing lake. LLC is excellent for multiple species. I did not take any fishing equipment with me because it was not a priority on this trip. There was a time when I was ALL about the fishing too! But this area has other things to offer like Devil's Cascade, the option of day hiking on the Sioux Hustler Trail (if windy?) and wildlife. My last night I sat at a beautiful campfire and had the company of a moose wading and chomping veggies prolly 20 yards away. Wasn't sure if I wrote a trip report on this one but I found it! My Trip Report Hope you have a magical trip whereever you choose to go!
