A group of us are doing a 5 day (mostly fishing) trip here next week. How many lbs. of leeches should we pick up? I'm not sure how many leeches are in a pound or how long a pound of leeches usually lasts? I just don't want to run out the 2nd day if mr. walleye seems to only like leeches and not any of our artificial lures. First time in the BWCA. I've heard leeches can be the ticket. Thanks for any advice.

I would agree with that. Especially if you are using other bait. 1 pound per person for the 5 day trip. I would bring 1/2 that in crawlers and a seining net if you feel the need for minnows.
www.takeakidoutdoors.com There is a kid just waiting for you to ask him or her to go fishing or camping or canoeing...All you have to do is ask them. (I know, i was one of them)

We just got back from a 5 day trip. There was 3 of us seriously fishing. We brought a pound and a half of leeches and we had maybe a dozen left. Fishing was great so we really went through them. It sucks to run out if the bite is on. If a lot of smallmouth are present you will lose a lot to them too. When we have leftovers we offer them to groups we meet who are paddling in. Never had a problem giving em away like that.

Well, you dont. I got an idea how many I can use. Ib 5day. 1 1/2lb 7day. 2lb any more than that. Thats per person . 40bucks is nothing for bait on a fishing trip.ive got plastics for plan B. I fish a lot. Some might not fish that much. Always have a plan B . And for the most part a plan C
