We're leaving in less than 2 weeks (Aug 17) for a week. Our plan is a loop that is roughly Mudro-Jackfish Bay-Basswood R.-Friday Bay-Gun-Boot-Fourtown-and back out Mudro.

Anything we need to do or see? We'll definitely fish below the various falls. Also might try to hit Big Current up on Crooked. Any other places to try for smallies, northerns, walleyes, etc? Thanks!

Also, any campsite do's or don'ts on this trip? I have a few marked just above upper Basswood falls and a couple marked in Thurs/Fri Bays. Any other good spots?

Saw a guy pull out a 28" walleye in the bowl that the basswood falls flows into.
That campsite facing north ,looking at the falls is nice. Been on jackfish for many a trip .nice lake if you don't want to see anyone.

I am heading to the same area this Saturday pastor. Where do you plan to camp? That is a good fishing area for Walleye.

Sounds good, we'll be doing that string (Gun, Fairy, Boot, Fourtown) on the 2nd half of the trip so probably about 2 weeks from now. I've been in that stretch once before and enjoyed it so hopefully we'll do the same and fish more this time. Let us know how you do!

We are going up to Friday Bay in September. I spent a few days on there a couple years ago as well. I liked fishing the Eastern shoreline of Friday Bay. There's some good sized smallies in there. There's a nice sandy beach about halfway down. Good place to take a break and a short swim. I also want to try out the midlake humps for some walleye. The bigger lakes can get pretty rough at times. Take advantage of the calmer days to fish the bigger water.

I don't have a great campsite to recommend. I usually camp close to where I want to fish. The worst one on Friday Bay is probably the Southern most site. You probably already know about the pictographs on the Basswood River. Check out Table Rock as you go by.

Have a great trip!
