Hi all,
I am heading into the south arm of knife lake from august 18th-23rd with my girlfriend. I was wondering if anyone could chip in some advice on where and how to approach the walleyes this time of year. My plan as of right now is to target structured areas (more mid lake) in depths between 15 and 30ft... I heard the water is very clear so I'm thinking our best bet will be in the evening/night. We will be bringing crawlers and leeches. We will also try trolling cranks in the 15-20ft range. I know I can find plenty of action fishing for northerns and smallies but would like a couple meals of walleye :)

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
DJ

Troll some of those big cranks deep and you just might get some lake trout action too.

I cant speak to the walleye action on this lake, however I can give you an awesome spot for smallmouth bass. We caught some huge bass in a bay towards the south arm (its marked on the maps that float around this site, but email me if you cant find it). It was a great tip, and i would be sure to take the GF back there. I took my wife and we had a blast.

We caught some nice walleyes in the South Arm at that time of year on tiny jigs and a half crawler. A few big smallies, too. Main lake humps, right on.

Thanks, I will be sure sure to bring plenty of crawlers and leeches. I also hope to hook up with a lake trout or 2... I bought a few 30ft deep diving taildancers and 3 way swivels. lets hope the fish cooperate!

Solid plan. Water is definitely clear so hope for a cloudy day with a little breeze. Have a great trip! Spent the spring trip on SAK and the general area and it was a blast.
