Any advice for walleyes this time of year? Sept 6-12. We will be on Wind lake, Wind Bay & up into the no-motor zone on Basswood if wind conditions permit. If the wind is bad, we may go over to Indiana & Good.

Never had much luck with walleyes in the summer, I know jigging is effective, but doesn't trip my trigger. I have lots of pike gear, should be FUN, but my wife would like to catch some walleyes. Also, we have a decent fish-finder rigged for the canoe.

First vacation in two summers... I can't sleep! Many thanks!

If you see this before you leave, I love to use Rat-L-traps with blue and silver sides. Orange belly also helps. Crank baits are excellent as the water cools. Paddle only fast enough to make the lure "work" - maybe 1.5 to 2.0 MPH. If you use braided line (like Spider Wire), you can see the rod vibrate when the lure is working.

Any crank bait running 6-12 feet deep should boat plenty of walleye.

Good fishing!
