Would using a cordless drill to drill holes in the ice be against the rules for the BWCA?

This one would work for a few holes.

To answer the question, electric motors are not allowed in the BWCA.

I have the attachment for my 18v dewalt and I was shocked at how well it cut holes. Almost as fast as my 3hp gas auger. Even though I already knew the answer I still had to check the rules about using it. It would be an awesome piece of gear on a overnight trout trip.

A cordless electric drill is light to carry, makes no noise, causes no pollution, therefore leaves "no trace!" :)

We went over this last fall...didn't "we?"
The answer is still YES...to the OP
Although you are not using it for propulsion...lol

I should have figured this topic has been covered. And I did figure that they were illegal, but I needed some fine people like yourselves to discourage me from trying it. Thanks for the responses. Time to buy a Nils, I guess!

Buy a nils you will love it. I got a 6 inch and a 8 inch. The 6 inch I can drill thru over a inch a second of ice.

What would you do if you got out there and your batteries went dead or your drill took a crap? My answer is nay.

Sorry... I was thinking out loud and hoping if I couldn't find it someone else would dig it up... Every question has been asked/answered.
I was NOT trying to discourage re-asks...FWIW
