Say I'm gonna be fishing moose chain with a boat. Would I be legal if I secured a day use paddle permit and used my belly boat to fish below prairie portage.Im assuming I would park boat by truck portage and walk down the trail.

It's a big tire inner tube with a seat in it. The inner tube is at belly level, hence the name belly boat.

Thanks Mike. I have only heard them called float tubes.

If it's not registered as a boat than its not a boat. So I would say you are golden, but then what do I know? :)

Belly boat is the redneck version of a float tube.........in the tube beginnings it was literally a truck tire tube with a cut piece of wood attached via some ropes that you would straddle. There were no specialized fins to propel you along and we used swim fins and would travel backwards and turn around to fish.

We loved "tubing" and would drag our tubes through the woods to fish out of the way places. Sort of creepy at night however......

If you are we have something in common :-)

I do art for the upper crust but live in the land of sugar cane and rednecks and fit in a little more than I care to admit. And as for politically incorrect I wear it with a badge of honor and could care less what names they want to call me. (I like the police, dislike anarchy and open borders, and think the government has no place in supplying peoples needs, wants and desires by forcibly taking from some to give to others).
