I will be heading to new waters on June 13th. A group of 5 is heading into fall lake and paddling our way up to the no motor zone section of Basswoood. We plan to base camp somewhere around upper basswood falls. Being that this will be my first time fishing on Basswood, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. Where would be a good starting point and are there any good areas to target. Is it good fishing below the falls? We will be targeting walleyes.
As of right now we plan to troll shorelines with shadraps and hot n tots (10-15ft) until we find some fish then hopefully anchor and try jigs w/ leeches.
Looking forward to the trip!

Hey DJ. There is a nice size island just west of the most northern US point that has a great campsite we stayed at last year. This island butts up to the mainland creating a nice set of narrows that we landed a nice couple walleye in last year. Current runs through the narrow area and you can drift through it. Also there is a sunken island in the same general area between this island and US point. I would hit that as well.
We are going in this year on the 15th (two days after you) but heading further west into Crooked. Best of luck to you.
I few years ago my group pulled a nice 40" northern out of the area between the falls just to the west of there on a buzzbait at the end of July. Should still be in there.
