Heading out of lake 1 in August from a Friday to a Monday. What should we fish for? What kind of tackle should I take? Any more things we can explore there? Taking two 16 year old boys out with us. Any suggestions would help. Thank you

In years past we have caught plenty of northerns and walleyes on the number lakes but they do get quite a bit of pressure. We usually trolled rapalas or shad raps. Are you going as far as Insula? It is also a good fishing lake.

Bring lots of leeches!
I would suggest going into Lake Three or Four.
If you can get into the islands on the SE side of Three you will be out of the main travel route. So slightly less busy. But yes lots of leeches, there are a lot of walleye to be had.
Start by working one of the many points and islands. Vertical jigging is a good way to quickly find fish. Electronics would help too.
Also spend some time casting topwater plugs and spinnerbaits around shoreline structure for big smallmouth and pike.
The long narrow part of Lake Four is also a good area.

Good luck
