Here is a post I originally placed in the trip forum. Apologies is you are reading it for a second time:
I am planning a trip for the first time in the fall of the year to the BWCA. I have plenty of trips under my belt but all of them took place in the summer.
I am wondering if you have any advice for a fall first-timer? I will be mostly fishing during my time and am wondering about bait. I usually use leeches in the summer. Do I want to do this in the fall too? I know they might not be available, but how late in the year can you get them and are they useful?
If you use minnows, are they easier to keep alive in the fall due to the water temps? Or, will they just die off like in the summer?
Are there any other suggestions you might have about where to fish in the fall vs. summer?
I know the basics as I fish a lot but anything you can recommend is appreciated. Thank you!
