Sounds like about 6-12 inches of ice, and quite a bit of slush in many places.
The 7-9 inches of snow we got over three days last weekend really hurt lake conditions.
I don't know how this 4-5 day cold front will effect the slush, but the temps are heading back up next week, hitting the low to mid 30's.
Only a few people (idiots)are brave enough to drive a truck on the lake.
There are no plowed roads on Burntside, and snowmobile travel or tracked ATV's are the only way to travel at this time.

Thanks for the nice update. Yes they would be idiots if they drive on the lake.Hope the last few cold mornings may help some.

Talking little more snow this week?

If we get any more snow, it could be the beginning of the end for what little ice we have on Burntside.
The idiot count for people seeing driving trucks/cars on the lake is at 5, so far.

With less snow on the lakes in the Brainerd area we have like 13-19 inches of ice. Still about a foot short of normal.

TGO you must be close to 2 feet below normal ice thickness for this time of year?

Well you other forum Fisher people how much ice you been finding on your fishing treks?

Its a cold one today and windy-may be the last cold blast of the year-well maybe?

Yup, about 20-24 inches below normal at this time. No telling what this cold spell will do, we'll know more next week.

Last weekend there was lots of slush on the lakes. I did not see any cars or trucks on any lakes.

About a foot of ice in the Finland area...and 6-8" slush. It was crusty enough to walk on some parts without breaking through.

I was on Lake of the Woods out of Warroad last week for a few days. 18 + inches of ice and with a 4 wheel vehicle you could drive just about anywhere with not much snow and no slush to be seen. This week after the snow may be different.
