Do I have to change out my fireline every season as I would with mono? Thanks.

I don't, I change it out every 3 to 4 years. Through various BWCA trips I end up losing a couple feet each trip due to frays and retying. Every year or so I'll flip it around. I'll respool the fireline from one spool to another putting the used fireline on the spool first and the new fireline on the spool last. Essentially using the new line that has rarely been off the spool for another year or two. That's what I do, it's worked for me. I think this would work for any braided line, not just fireline.

Same here. Except on the years I go to Canada fishing, then its all new line.

Good news and thanks for the input. Extra dough in my pocket for more shiny things to dangle off the end.

Same as above. I back my reels about half way with heavy mono (14lb) and tie on to braid with a blood knot. I spool the rest of the way up with braid (still 2x as far as I can cast). This usually means I can get two reel fulls of braid out of the 150yd spool. The braid seems to last 2-3 years depending on how much sun it gets, or how bad I birdsnest with the baitcaster. I run braid exclusively on everything except a reel that I spool with mono for topwater baits.

I respool every season on my baitcaster. I fish for large northern and I'd rather spend the dough on fresh line and not have that be a concern when fighting a 40" fish.

My concern with any line is how long has it been sitting in warehouses

I'm a muskie fisherman. Fireline is different than other super lines such as Power Pro. Fireline tends to splinter and that concerns me as a line for constant casting. Now for trolling I think it is great. For jigging I think it is great. Power Pro in 15-20 lb. is great on a spinning reel and Power Pro 30-80 is great on a baitcaster. Being round I like the way PP holds up even when it loses its color. I can even darken it with a permanent marker. I use a mono backing and I cut the 150 yard spool in half. I reverse the 75 yards of PP on the reel after 1 year, and have freah line for the next year.
