We fished Duncan and Rose from the 11th- 16th.
The Lake Trout were hitting on Duncan sitting in about 20 ft of water and feeding in the shallows. Super Rooster tails in white seemed to be the favorite, yellow also worked. Suspending Rapalas worked also. When casting wally divers in silver and black or blue we hammered trout. Nothing on spoons. The portage side of the small island in the narrows held trout. When your going to Partridge on Duncan the lake narrows at the mouth of the narrows was holding trout. A few smallmouth in the shallows small males not much happening with the smallies yet I would guess they are 2 wks away from top water shoreline action.
If going to Partridge lake prepare to walk in some deep water, the beavers have damned up the spillway running from Partridge to Duncan. Flooding the portage.
The smallie fishing on Rose was just starting to get going. No surface action yet but plenty of fish moving into the shallows. Aggressive males hitting what ever we threw toward the shore line. Fish the falls in the evening we crushed bass there. There are some gd sized bass cruising the bay opening by the falls.
Good luck to all, I hope this helps. I'll be back up in Sept. on Clearwater, Caribou and Little Caribou.

I'll be heading to Rose on Friday and staying through Monday. How were the lakers hitting on Rose? I really don't see myself portaging back to Duncan to try for the lakers.

We did not catch any lakers on Rose. They had moved into deeper water. A friend had fished Rose 2 days prior and caught lakers long lining spoons in 30 plus ft of water. I would guess by now the lakers would be moving out of the shallows on Duncan also. You should be there for prime smallie action. Good luck
