Greetings fellow Paddlers! I have a trip coming up in a couple weeks and asking if any of you have gone over this 366 rod portage this year and what you encountered? It's been about 15 years since I last traveled this and my memory is foggy.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Just did it this past May for the first time. It's no joke of a portage but you'll survive! Would I do it again? Maybe in a few years.... Lots of rocks, ups, downs, over the puddle, get stuck in the puddle, a couple swear words here and there. It's one of those "why the hell am I doing this?" moments.

First, thank you x2j for the suggestion. I did look up past comments.
And thank you for your recent review from May. Wow. Ha! Sounds like it was exciting!

Did it this spring for the first time.
My opinion is going from Missing Link to Tuscarora, was long, but not bad. There's were a few wet spots, but nothing crazy.
Coming back, Tuscarora to Missing Link - way worse. That climb out of Tuscarora just gets you redlining and I never recovered until the end of the portage. One of only two portages where I seriously debated stopping and putting the canoe down mid portage. The other was JAP.

I did this portage this spring right after ice out. Went from Tuscarora to Missing Link. Honestly it's all about perspective. To me it wasn't bad, not worthy of the 8 and 9 difficulty ratings that it got, but I'm in decent shape with ultralight gear.I assume because of the length. It is long and people are right, that climb out of Tuscarora is a gasser. My biggest gripe was I double carried, not because it was tough but because it took so long. Bottom line, is if your in decent shape you'll be fine, but if your not it could be rough.
