I was the only one in my group who did not want a whole bowl full of chocolate cake and chocolate pudding. They were so excited I wanted to give most of mine away! It's just too much chocolate for me, a bite or two is fine. I prefer cheesecake..mmm.. We made it up before we left and with some dried cranberries on top I tell ya, mmm, mmm, mm..it was some good stuff.

I agree on the chocolate overload. Not good on the tummy. For cheesecake once, we took up those instant pudding mixes (like JELLO brand). If you chill some water in the lake for awhile, it turns out pretty nicely, and isnt as expensive as the fancy camping desserts.

I carry my bakepacker on every trip. I have a reputation for providing cakes, corn bread, etc. with our meals. My scouts would be very disappointed if the bakepacker got left behind. One of my favorite memories is the birthday cake, complete with candles, for one of the boys 13th birthday. He had moved to the U.S. from Holland when he was about 11, and turned 13 on his his first BWCA trip. It was a day neither of us will ever forget.

We always have dessert, some in the group can eat more than others. We have brownies, blueberry pie, peach cobbler, or some other baked item...not aIways sweet, it can be cornbread or biscuits. I don't like instant pudding, so we don't carry it. Cause I'm the big boss, that's why!

We make lots of cobblers with freeze dried raspberries, peaches, dried apples. We used to carry a small aluminum Dutch oven now we carry a reflector oven and it works great. Good way to add fruit to your diet and it sure tastes great.
This summer I am going to take fruit cake (read a previous thread).
