Grilling steaks the first night out seems to be a rather popular tradition with many heading out into the bdub. I was out looking for something a bit different and I think I have found just the thing for this years trip. You may want to try this recipe out this weekend for the big game to perfect your weaving and rolling skills. Post your results.

It'll also fit right in here in MN. Trust me, we still like our animal flesh. It's even better when served on a stick.
Bacon wrapped sausage. The only thing better would be bacon wrapped bacon. Cook it off an then dip it in a beer batter. Fry that and serve with a dipping sauce of your choice.

Sit back, relax, have a home brew.

I wonder if this would work on the first night of a BWCA trip. Would be a funny and delicious surprise for the group. I suppose you could pre make the roll and wrap it in plastic wrap. I wonder how it would do on the fire, though...

I make something similar, but I put sauteed peppers and onions on the inside with colby jack cheese and cajun spice. Smoke that with apple wood and people start showing up from down-wind. It may not be the best for you, but the taste is worth it.
