Has anyone ever seen freeze dried hominy or its equivalent? I love the stuff. We use in an omlett with mushrooms, spinach, bacon and cheese. I like it plain too (fried in bacon drippings.

I have fond memories of going to the state park near my hometown and my dad making fried corn-meal mush for breakfast on a grill. Served with lots of butter and maple syrup. I'm interested in the answers to your question as I would like to bring some freeze dried up to the BW if doable- honor the old man...

Yes. Thanks for reminding me of fried mush 'patties or squares'. I haven't eaten that since my Grandmother was living. (Thinking of wupping some up in the morning) Thanks for the fond memory jog!

Good Stuff!!

also like to use the pre-made polenta fried up in the pan with the left over fat from slow cooking chopped bacon, onions and peppers. then when the polenta is done add the bacon goodness back to the pan to heat up and dump in some eggs. Ooh man that's some good eats.

I second the grits. Instant grits are a good camping food.
