Hamburger Cheesy Veggie Wraps, from the Freezer Bag Cooking book by Sarah Svien Kirkconnell

In a quart freezer bag:
1/4 cup dried hamburger
1/4 cup plus 2 Tbsp instant hash browns
1/4 cup diced dried carrots
1/4 cup diced sun-dried tomatoes
1 Tbsp diced dried onions
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp granulated garlic
2 Tbsp cheese sauce powder

Also take:
2 tortillas
Salsa packets

Add 1 1/4 cups near boiling water, stir well and put in a cozy for 10 to
15 minutes.

(You can also add up to 1 cup instant rice + 1 cup more water for bigger
tortillas)

Notes from nojobro: I think it fills more than two tortillas if I recall corretly (without the optional rice). I think this is a good, well-balanced meal of meat, carbs and veggies...and it's super easy when you're out (some work required at home prior to the trip, of course). I dehydrated my own hamburger and bought the other ingredients from Packit Gourmet.

I haven't dried my own burger yet, but I will definitely do it after watching this.

Corndog - thanks for that link. I think I'll try it.

I assume you saw video for how to use BWCAW latrine?

Dehydrating burger is so easy. I dehydrated 2 lbs of ground venison for our spring trip. It hydrated easily and tasted good.

Good luck Corndog and Bill!

LOL yes I did it was very informative. I will review each time I venture into the wild. I really like those videos by the Bryce family.

LOVED the cheesy wraps. made them for dinner. Eating cheese in the BW is good, it constipates you, slows down the digestive process and saves on TP requirements.

Guts,

Packit Gourmet has EXCELLENT food. We ate like queens in the Quetico last week. I highly recommend the migas del sol, chicken salad, cheddar jack cheese spread, gazpacho, freeze dried meat (chicken and beef rehydrated beautifully) and veggies (spinach, mushrooms, and asparagus) that mixed great into freezer bag cooking recipes.

Try it!
