Anyone ever come up with an edible cooking method?

I've had people tell me, "boil three times," discarding the water each time, then bread and fry. Anyone ever try this?

No, not even interested in the supermarket kind.

I hope you realize that all species of mussels are protected by law in Minnesota and many are endangered. If you happen to find some dead ones you can collect up to 24 whole shells if you have a fishing license, they are not classified as threatened or endangered, and they didn’t come from the St. Croix River.

I don’t think the dead ones are good to eat. Those rules are listed on page 78 of the 2012 MN Fishing Regulations.

We cooked clams from lake Pokegama when I was a kid. If I was to cook them again I would boil once and discard the water and all the clam in it. They we not good.

If you put on some butter and garlic they are good. I was not aware that they are protected. I was thinking about the ones you buy in the seafood section. I hope someone comes up with a great recipe for Zebra mussels. Our lake has lots of them and I want them gone.

Ha! Sounds like a great plan for a new diet method.

No, I had no idea. They sure aren't endangered in my lake. Can't walk in the water off my beach without stepping on a dozen.

Well, scratch that idea.
