Tried Betty Crocker Suddenly Pasta Salad Classic over weekend to see if it would be a trail option. It was simple and good. Thinking I would mix with foil pack tuna or chicken. Maybe make night before for lunch next day or in morning for dinner. Probably would benefit from some evaporative cooling if the weather is warm. I'm sure someone could do as well or better from scratch - just so easy to pick up with foil pack chicken and not have to think. Besides water, needs two table spoons of oil.

We've been making Suddenly Salad on trips for years. Good stuff.

Yup. Easy. It's a decent side dish for fish, brats, etc. Grab a hand full of mayo packets from a fast food restaurant and you can make the the creamy varieties also.

You don't need the oil. Substitute a little more water.

This is on our menu plan for each trip. We often eat it warm rather than make ahead.

We like it too. It's in the cupboard at the cabin, and I don't even have to remove it for the winter!

I suggested chicken above but also thought it might be good with the foil pack salmon.

Forgot to mention that we add foil packs of chicken to this...
