No head cheese recipes either...very disappointing.

Okay here's one. Take one extra large techno-geek, add some polypropylene clothing, stir in some wilderness savvy and one fishing pole. Finally add the possibility of seclusion on a northern lake in a canoe. Leave alone for four or five days. Serves many.

I think we all love fruit cakes!

Shouldn't this be under the anchor thread in the gear section?

I have been there! There is a put-in on Bryant Creek right at the bottom of their lane. I think they used to make concrete? Great area to paddle in the spring!! The North Fork River and Bryant Creek are both very near. Some nice mills in that area as well.

I love fruit cake. My grandmother used to make the best ones in the world. I make them about every other year. Soak them in rum or moonshine and they will keep for generations.

If you dehydrate fruitcake for your trip, do you re-hydrate it by soaking in rum?

"Almost 3 months for a reply ??? No one likes fruit cake ??? Izzy"

It's a known fact.

Woody,

I am a fruit cake liker, and a relative sent an AA fruitcake this year to me. Very good. I love their picture showing them adding the rum so carefully. I would have a toddy glass alongside for my portion, if that was my job lol!

If it was me I would eat the dry fruit cake and rehydrate myself with the rum. I am planning on taking a fruit cake on my trip this year you have provided the inspiration.
BTW the pic of those guys making the fruit cake; I have news for you they are really not monks they are retired teachers! I can't wait I only have three more years.
