Yes 8 dams that you have to unload your boat depending on how much gear you have. It's at least 2 hours.

sorry to hijack but I gotta say I wish there was an alternate access to that route than plowing down and dragging through Larch Creek. Seems...suboptimal at best and actually tears up the creek at worst.

You can go through Gunflint Lake it's maybe a 1/2 mi longer.

8 beaver dams? Holy crap. I agree the gunflint thru magnetic is possibly faster, however, the meandering creek in the fall is gorgeous if the tamaracks have turned color. Plus, more opportunity for wildlife in the cozy marshy terrain. I like the land portages better than going the other option.

Thanks. But, your boat needs to be completely unloaded at each dam in and out. By far the worst part of the trip.
