What a wonderful trip, probably my best ever canoe trip. Fishing great, weather great, fishing great. What more to say, am putting a trip report together, as I'm trying to finish unpacking. Buddy caught a 40 3/4" Pike, first day on Glenn. Certainly pushing the 20# mark. He's excited.

Bugs not bad, certainly tolerable. Lot's of portages in tough shape, but Harlan, Marten, and many others are working to make the park passable. Tough job. A couple of pics

Must be a year for big pike in WCPP. I caught 2 above 40 inches (plus a couple of 38's and 36's). As I was muscling one of my 40+ pike to the canoe to release, I looked below him and there was a LARGER one circling that could easily have been 6" longer ... WHOA! One of my 38's had teeth marks across his back side that were at least 6 inches wide. Upon catching my first 40+ pike from a solo canoe, a line from the movie "Jaws" came to mind ... "I'm going to need a bigger boat!" It was quickly followed by another line from one of the Star Trek movies ... "Captain, there be WHALES here!"

My paddling partner also landed a 40+ incher. He had another (thankfully smaller) literally jump in the boat with him. In addition, one fisherman we passed on a travel day has just landed a 40+ incher.

Glad you had a great trip. It is a wonderful place to travel. Fishing generally is outstanding due to almost non-existent pressure.

Can't wait to read your trip report, we're going into Mexican Hat the end of August and love to fish [not so much eat as to catch em] did you go in from LeAnno? if so really interested in the trip in, not much the exact condition [there needs to be some element of surprise on a trip of this magnitude] but how long it took you . Oh by the way some great pictures. FRED

Where all did you go? I hear the minjim is blown in pretty good. Of course the park office told me I couldn't complete the Irvine route last year and the portage in question was one of the better ones.
