The last time I made a fire with friction was about 40 years ago in Boy Scouts. We made a board and drill and brought it to camp for a contest. Two sticks and a cotton string between. The one who burnt the string first won. I did not win but I did get a fire. The trick is the tinder bundle and board. Both must be dry to get a coal. I should try this summer to recreate fire with friction.

I was reading that tinder fungus makes a great fire board. We have a fair amount of it on our land.. so I was hopeing to try and use that
