04/21/2017 05:37PM The route to the portage crosses some big water that can produce some huge waves. If you start at daylight, which I would if I were you guys it is "usually" fairly calm. Also the boaters don't seem to care about slowing down for canoes. I would recommend getting the tow. It can be a dangerous crossing sometimes. |

04/20/2017 01:19PM First of all, Welcome to the Board!! Check the outfitter list on the top of the page or call, Voyageur North Outfitters. If they don't offer services - they will know who does. Or, call TGO (The Great Outdoors) bait shop in Ely. He knows most everything about the area. |

04/20/2017 07:16AM Does anyone have any updated information on how to get a tow across Vermilion? Moccasin Point Marina does not do it anymore. They gave me the name of Lonnie Johnson but I don't know if the number I have still works so I am curious as to what other people might have in mind. Thank you. |
