May 12? Opener isn't until that Sunday. Round lake entry is more work. Caribou can be decent fishing. Johnson falls is worth the hike.

I have two non-fishers with me, and I want them to get a lot of action. Suggestions?"

Non- fishers who want to fish?
If you are looking for "easier" fishing in May , I would go Round Lake route. There is fish to be had west of Round : Tuscarora, crooked, Owl, Gillis, Little Sag, Gabi..... Lots of options. May Lake trout there. I have done both EPs. Both gorgeous, both "fishy". You could get "lost" easier, paddling west of Round. Sweet portage into Tusc separates crowd a little.
Either way your group will have a blast. You can't go wrong between the two EPs.
Happy paddling and good luck.

Since you are non-fishers, I'd say Clearwater. Lots of views, photo ops, Johnson's Falls, etc.

It's a bit of a push, but Gillis is full of lakers. I don't have think we have caught any over 24 inches, but......numbers!!! and they eat good!!

I'm coming in on May 12 and I've never been to either spot. Someone help me! I can come in Clearwater and go south to Caribou/Moon/Deer/Pine/Mountain, or I can come in on Round Lake and hit Brant/Gillis/Tuscarora/etc. I have two non-fishers with me, and I want them to get a lot of action. Suggestions?
