schweady	05/24/2017 01:09PM Guess this will be my standard cell phone thread response from now on: You can usually try to text. Let family know that this would be the best way to attempt contact. Turn it on once each night. Check for incoming. Send a quick one if you'd like. Shut it down again. No constant interruptions. Unless, of course, you can't help yourself. Sorry to the OP who only wanted to know about Disappointment Lake. I've never taken a phone there. But it looks like the original question has been answered anyway.

Yeah, if my dad had a medical emergency (he's not likely to break his hip any time soon though, he's only 57) then I would want to know. But sometimes its impossible to actually enjoy yourself due to the sheer volume of inconsequential calls, notifications, and quick questions. Some people have work contacts too that can wait but don't want to. I'll take my chances to be out of touch for one weekend to avoid the constant interruptions. My parents used to go to the BWCA too and encourage me to do the same. They would understand if something happened and I was unreachable.

I lose all coverage with-in 10 min of turning off in Tofte. Sure is nice knowing that I can't get a call from the wife telling me something trivial as if it were a big deal. If I'm ever gone for a day or two, you can be sure that I will get about 5 calls from her a day, and yes she knows just how much I dislike it. Then there's going to be the call or two about how she gets upset at me not liking it when she calls multiple times a day. If I turn my phone off, its a problem. If I just don't answer, its a problem. The only solution I've found is to go places where there is no reception and she knows it. Don't get me wrong, I love my wife, but a guy needs his space too.

" You probably won't get a call through, but I was able to send some texts as well check the weather and vikings score from the northern most site on Disappointment last September. (with some patience)
Gillcommander	05/22/2017 05:32AM I had "ok" service when I was on Disappointment 2 years ago. I certainly wouldn't count on it being a for sure thing tho.

CanoeingHarry	05/21/2017 03:55PM Wondering if i need to rent a satellite phone to keep in touch with the baby sitter or maybe Verzion works in or near the area? Ive been 5 lakes deep into Murdo access with 4g so I thought I'd check Disappointment before i spend the money.
