You also might check out the Challenge - from International Fall, Crane or Moose to Grand Portage. And sync with part.

Thanks for the info. I will check into that area. Not planning on doing this until next summer but never too early to dream

I have done the Lake One to Seagull route a couple of times. I prefer the interior lakes. They are less affected by wind and the mid section has very little traffic (Adams-Boulder). Ely to end of Gunflint - about 160+ miles and 3 1/2 hours each way. Lots of driving.
We have had family drop and pick us up to avoid the drive.

I would probably have to spend an extra night after dropping off vehicle then do the drive back to ely early the next morning. It is about a 10 hour drive for us to Gunflint trail

Would probably take our time and camp along the way and explore some of the lakes off the main route as we go

is your plan to stick to the border lakes? if so, you could do that trip in one very long day or two days...or more. you can also cut through the interior lakes and come out at Sag or Seagull. so, yes, it's doable and it's been done numerous times.

Never done it but I know it's doable, and would be an awesome trip. It's not really a short drive drive between end of the Gunflint Trail and Moose Lake, but I'm sure you know that.

Not sure if you're looking for tips but I can give you some pointers starting on the South Arm up to the end at Saganaga as to good campsites etc.

Now you've got me thinking of doing a similar route myself for my next trip.

Has anyone ever canoed one way on Knife Lake to the Gunflint trail? Want to leave a vehicle at the end and drive back to Moose lake Paddle to Saganaga Lake. Been canoeing the BWCA for 30 years and I am looking for a unique route.
