Like jamotrade says, that wind is no joke. When it gets howling down the lake the waves are big boys. Early morning travel is generally best. When I did it via canoe we left a day early just because the wind was good that morning. Daniel |

08/18/2017 01:01PM Here's how we left it when we hiked the Mountain Lake portage and checked out the views on the Border Route Trail. |

08/18/2017 12:57PM We used a 14' Lund and just dragged it up on shore. |

08/17/2017 04:03PM We used a flat bottom and removed the motor and pulled on shore when not in use, but would be interested to see if anyone else has done something else or have a better method. |

08/14/2017 08:40PM My mistake.....we stayed at 684, and yes, it does connect with the BRT. 679 and 682 were the other 2 we checked. |

We only stayed one night in late August and we only saw one boat make the long ride to the far east end." Yes, 682 and 684 are both nice - facing morning sun and calm from the whipping west to east winds. Stayed in 683, I'd not do that again. 684 has a path to the Border Route Trail, I'd bet the same for 682 with a great overlook very nearby. A lot of the sites in the middle of Clearwater are a challenge to find, and I was in a canoe when I tried looking. Daniel |
