Kendis: "cowdoc: "W & H has very nice bunks.....your own room. Bathroom is shared but is a large "locker room" type with stalls and individual showers. Safe parking lot imo and your canoe will be safe.
Latourells should be similar. Both are well respected establishments."

I am in the process of making a reservation with Williams and Hall. CBO is considerably farther south along Moose Lake than W&H and I didn't want to spend the extra time on Moose the first day (nor did I want to purchase a tow). La Tourell's told me that they only offered overnight accommodations to people who also purchase other services from them. We have all our own gear so we had no need for outfitting services.

Thanks to everyone who provided your input."

If you have any questions about anything once you get there, ask to talk to Dave. Dave also knows a lot about fishing in that area as well if you are interested in such things he can point you in the right direction. Tell him you know QueticoMike :) Good luck on your trip!

Our groups have stayed 10 times at LaTourells Outfitters. They have many options for the nights stay.

The men’s/ladies bathrooms and showers are in a separate building but always clean. Car parking has never been a problem for us. Lighted lot for security.

When we first get to LaTourells we unload our canoes and put down by the lodge that is right on Moose Lake. That way they are ready to go in the morning for the tow boat or paddle. Very safe area, and never had a problem. It’s very quiet after the sun goes down.

bwcadan: "Check with your chosen outfitter in advance of your stay concerning leaving your car on their property. This curtesy is NOT a given with your reservation and I have had to transfer the car to the public landing parking lot before leaving on trip."

Wow. That's kind of a bum deal. Maybe they just don't have the space, but still...

CBO does let you leave your car there.

Canadian Border Outfitters is on Moose. You can rent a bunkhouse (you won't have to share with anyone) or a cabin style room. With the bunkhouse you have to share showers/bathrooms with others. I think the cabin style rooms have their own, but I'm not positive. They have a huge lot to park in and it is safe. I've used them twice and was pleased.

I have been staying at Williams and Hall since 1988 (was Tom and Woods) and I have not had any issues in 30 years. I actually take my canoe off the vehicle when I get there and carry it down to the dock and sit it beside the rental canoes so I don't have to deal with it in the morning. Your wife will probably have the bathroom to herself, you might have to share.
Have fun on your trip!

Congrats on your win, where you headed?"

We are going from Moose northwest through Wind to Basswood, then northeast through Basswood to Sucker, then southwest from Sucker through Newfound back to Moose. The trip is a loop, nothing too challenging for our first BWCA trip in a looooong time. Five days, four nights, probably spending nights 1 and 2 at the same campsite on Basswood. Perhaps night 3 as well depending on how we're feeling.

We won't be able to make our accommodations reservation until the official lottery results are released on the 24th. Our first choice and alternate choice dates are one day apart, in mid-July.

All,

My wife and I won a spot in the Moose Lake (Entry Point 25) lottery for summer 2018. I know the "official" results of the lottery will not be released until the 24th, but Recreation.gov charged my credit card the cost of two adult user fees a few days ago so it would seem we're winners.

I need to make arrangements for accommodations the night before we put in. Looks like both Williams & Hall and La Tourell's have facilities on the Moose Lake shoreline. Do you have any feedback on either of these two companies?

We are looking for:
(1) Sleeping space for two people. Prefer separate accommodations and bathroom space from other people, but not a dealbreaker.
(2) A safe place to park our car for several nights.

Somewhat related, any thoughts on the safety and/or etiquette of leaving your canoe tied down on your car overnight the night before the start of the trip?
