01/28/2018 08:01PM We have joked about naming the kiddo Gaskin. :D My mother was not amused. Really enjoyed reading your trip report, Tuscarora! Looks like that route might be a good one for us! |

01/24/2018 01:26PM Congratulations on all accounts! Gaskin would be a fine name for the new arrival. :-) (Although we did not name our twins Newton nor Fall...) I have no experiences with Rockwood or lakes in that area, so I will leave those details to others. Best wishes all around! |

01/24/2018 12:25PM Hi! Can't believe it's January already! Took my first trip last summer with my husband and went in at EP 47. Base camped on the peninsula on Gaskin and just loved every minute! I'm starting to plan a trip for late August for my husband and I, plus our 10 year old nephew (he's a scout, and a very helpful and intelligent kid) and our tough as nails daughter who would be 5 at the time of the trip. We really, really enjoyed working with Rockwood Outfitters, so we'd like to stay in that area if possible, so I'm just looking for some recommendations for a good route with two kiddos. Trip length is still up in the air, as we're debating if we want to base camp or move camp maybe once during the trip. Our last trip's route was a great introduction to the BWCA and we enjoyed it so much. We definitely could've pushed harder if we wanted to, though. We would be open to taking this same route (or a variation of it) if it's a good fit for two kiddos. Wildlife and waterfalls are probably our biggest "must haves" for the trip. I will be giving birth to my BWCA "souvenir" in late April/early May, most likely by c-section. I tend to recover quickly, but that may need to be a consideration when choosing a route. Thank you!!! |
