You'll find lots of stuff if you were to search "lac la croix pictographs site:bwca.com", for example... The northern ones are very small in comparison to the other panel....only a couple small drawings |

Bob said he was retiring, printing the book as is & including a footnote of other pictos not recorded for others to follow & update. He mentioned the same info to me & was looking for a book on trail marking trees, then I never heard back. I'm not sure what's happening. |

07/23/2018 09:22PM N48 17.051 W92 00.374 I ordered the 3 Northwoods LLC brochures in 2015 and struck up an email conversation with Bob about his "upcoming" book. I also made a request for some additional images. In February of 2016, he mentioned dealing with health issues and how he was unable to be in the studio. Never got the images he promised. Nothing new on the website since around 2012. Sad to say, I don't feel like a book is coming out soon. His brochures are helpful, to a point. Fairly comprehensive, but the information is scattered and confusing. I was able to match up some of his work with the many pictures I took of the LLC pictos that summer of 2015. |

I can't update my quote any longer, but here's an updated marker based on Swampturtle's photo. |

07/03/2018 03:14PM Wow, that's some good info there! I'll update my post, if I can, with a better marker as well as change my waypoints in Basecamp. |

07/03/2018 12:53PM Late May I visited the pictos again on Lac La Croix. I have since contacted Bob at Northwoods Memories & ordered his 3 bulletins of the area to get a better idea of what I had seen & possibly missed. There are many panels, pictos & areas of interest along that wall. He is publishing a book soon with all he has seen & recorded along with his adventures. Here is a basic area with notes on location along with coordinates. |

06/29/2018 01:03PM If you paddle up that shore, the straight-up cliff face is quite obvious.....they are not hard to find. |

If anyone has better coords for the pictos please share so I can update my waypoint. |

06/28/2018 08:09PM Shine a UV blacklight on the northern ones. They were done with a special invisible ink. |

There are 2 sets marked on Fisher Maps, nobody has seemed to been able to find the northern ones. |

06/28/2018 02:01PM If you can find it Michael Furtman has a book about all the canoe country pictographs. This is a must see. One of the best panels in canoe country. You can't miss it on the east shore south of Fish Stake Narrows. Lots to see. |

06/28/2018 12:36PM If you want to do further research, a very handy Google search term is to combine what you're looking for plus the site: keyword which restricts results to a particular website. You'll find lots of stuff if you were to search "lac la croix pictographs site:bwca.com", for example... There's a peninsula campsite on LLC to the East of Kelsey Lake. My understanding is the pictos are directly to the East of that campsite, on a cliff face, on the Canadian shore. Generally around here is where most of the geotagged photos were taken. |

06/28/2018 12:08PM Anyone have any useful details regarding anything pertaining to Lac La Croix pictographs? We're heading in through EP 14 little indian sioux, doing the upper chain, and heading out through Moose (5 nights). Thinking 2 nights at the same campsite on LLC if we like it enough. Thank you. |
