Ok, good to know they can be picked up the day before they are used. Thanks.

unless things have changed, you reserve a permit for that week you plan to fish. the permit is good for ONLY 1 DAY during that week. if you plan to fish or want to be on the water more days you need a permit for each day. it is not a 24 hour day, so don't be confused. you can pick it up the day prior.

i think you should be prepared to reserve the permits you want as soon as the permit system allows.

I have always picked the permit up the day before, but maybe that has changed.

Next summer we are going to be staying in the Ely area, and plan to take day fishing trips to a couple of the lakes in the area. Planning on fishing Snowbank on one of the days and had a question about getting the day use motor permit (motor permit needed to fish the entirety of Snowbank).

I understand that now when you reserve one, you pick a week block in which you plan to use the day permit. My question to those that might have experience with this newer system, is do you actually have to pick up the permit on the exact day you plan to use it. Or for example, if you plan to use the day permit on a Friday, can you pick up the permit on Wednesday declaring you will be using it on the Friday?

Only reason I ask, is that that ranger station doesn't open until 8, and by the time you get the permit in Ely and head out to a lake you won't get there until well after 9. We like to be early risers and get out on the lake.

Haven't used a day use permit since the days you could fill one out at the boat landing which was very convenient, but from what I gather those days are over.
