mjmkjun	09/20/2018 03:51AM billconner & ChazzTheGnome, there is a Swan family in Perent. I kept my distance and glassed them from across a bay while out paddling. got caught in empty Bell Yellowstone when wind kicked up so had to place rocks to stabilize canoe to negotiate sudden 2 ft swells. woohoo!
ChazzTheGnome	09/19/2018 09:29AM Good info, thanks. our group is heading in at hog creek on thurs 9/27 planning on staying on Perent and fishing and grouse hunting for some BWCA surf and turf. although the turf part might be a little harder now, had my 1yo lab in the canoe a couple of times in the last few weeks and i am not going to bring her up. she will be good for next year but need a bit more practice and a late sept bw trip probably isnt the best place to practice!
mjmkjun	09/19/2018 06:25AM In some spots, the water depth is about 15"-18" at the lowest. There are 3 significant dams to pull over--but I managed to scoot over the middle one when traveling to Perent Lake. Also, there are 4 minor ones that are negotiated by paddling off to one side as those aren't built all the way across the creek. Paddled it last week, solo. outbound: Due to lower water level I was able to step out in about 12"-15" water depths to pull the loaded canoe over dams.
DylanC	09/15/2018 10:34PM I just got back from a week long trip from Baker Lake up to Cherokee and down to Sawbill. This was my first trip to the BWCA but it looked to me like the water level was generally 6-8 inches lower than normal. One section of Ada creek was basically just a trickle and had to be portaged instead of canoed, but this is normal for that particular creek in dry weather. Our outfitter (Sawbill) also confirmed that things have been a bit dry up there recently. On a positive note there were basically no mosquitos for our whole trip... it was amazing!

Phytophile	09/12/2018 09:52AM Has anyone been in on Hog Creek in the past few weeks? Looking to go in on Hog Creek to Perent Lake in 1-2 weeks and am wondering how the water levels are and how many beaver dams we might have to get out for. Thanks!
