my brother and i walked about halfway to van from ledge last june.we found traces of an old trail that we followed until it got lost at a swamp that i think used to be a beaver pond that had dried up.i think that if we would have bushwhacked around the swamp we could of made it to van.if you decide to try it yhe trail starts just west of the campsite on trail.i have been to raven a couple of times and it might be easier to get to van from there if the blowdown is not to bad there.raven is pretty and has nice small lakers.

I'm going in august so Raven is probably out. Bill Rom mentioned lakers in there. august isn't a good time for lakers.

He mentioned Van Lake as one that had fly in fisherman going into it back in the day. Apparently the fishing is good here. I will have to give it a shot. BTW, thanks for the cool maps Eglath!

I was on Raven a couple years ago. There are two portages into it. One is fairly easy, and the other one has alot of deadfall. It's about 90 rods or so. You have to paddle up a small creek that has very little water. You want to go during spring or a high water time, because we went in mid May and we still had to walk our canoes for quite a stretch.

They are part of the Mugwump Lake Primitive Management Area ( PMA List...though you can still day-trip. Raven has Lake Trout if I remember my research correctly...

I'm going to be spending a few days in the Boulder/Adams area and was thinking of daytripping to these two lakes. I read about them in Bill Rom's book. He was there in the early 60's.

There's no portages on my map to these lakes and was wondering if anyone has been there recently? The area is just north of Roe and Cap Lakes.
