Bog is essentially a dead end lake unless you really want an adventure

There is no portage from Bog to the creek that drains into the Isabella so you’d have to do some bushwacking. I have paddled from Isabella River up Mitawin Creek for about a mile and at least that part was navigable. If you can get to the Isabella, getting to Quadga or Rice would be a piece of cake. As far as bugs, last Sunday I was on the Isabella via Island River and the bugs were minimal. On Monday though, the mosquitoes were quite relentless on the portages and at the entry point.

"Big lake or Bog Lake?”
A: Bog Lake

“Bog Lake has no options other than the lake itself.
Only one campsite was not affected by the Pagami Fire. Good walleye lake though.”
A: Have you explored the creeks that connect with Isabela River, and therefore Quadga and Rice Lakes? I’m playing with the idea of paddling them and staying a lake or two in through those connections.

“If you enter Big Lake you only have a few options. If you’re looking for walleyes, you’d need to portage to Big Moose. There are northerns in LaPond and Big Rice. There’s a long portage into Hook. Nice camp site but the lake only has small northerns. You’ll have opportunities to see moose in this area. Most likely you won’t see anyone else.”
A: I’ll have to look into Big Lake as a possible route. However, entry points are limited at this time. Thanks for the alternative!

I’m looking to see if I can get any information from anyone’s recent experience in the bog lake area.

How’s the mud?
How’s the bugs?
Fishing tips?
Route Recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Respectfully,

StoicPrimate

Edit: corrected ‘big’ for ‘big’ lake. To confirm. I’m looking for BOG LAKE area information.
