I think there is 3 to 4 good ones. I think a lot depends on what you want to fish for and where you want to go. I think each has a specialty. Some are great on big northern pike on Basswood,I think Murphy is a lake trout guy on Knife lake, setting up by Dorthy Moltiers(sp) area.

I would highly recommend Basswood Bob as I gave him his first set of dogs! And to top it off he is one of the finest fisherman summer or winter you will find anywhere!

I would highly recommend Kelly Murphy. He's a killer guy, and I'd be willing to venture he's done more and seen more than the vast majority of the guides out there. If you book someone else, they will be likely using some of his advice and a few dogs that have been either trained or bread by him. He'll get you there right and tight and beyond that he has a sharp sense of humor and stories for years.

I would recommend Basswood Bobs guide service. I went on a 1/2 dozen trips from snowbank to the Thomas lake area on skis with Bob and his group he is very knowledgeable of the area and can get you on fish. Tell him gadget recommended him.

As I was paging through my most recent boundary waters journal I saw an add for dog sledding and guided lake trout fishing. After giving it some thought I decided its something I would like to try this winter. Has anyone done this and can make some guide recommendations. Thanks in advance!
