I still haven't figured out the Land Information Ontario website, but I did find this one:

http://www.geographynetwork.ca/website/obm/viewer.htm

You can download contour lines, lake polygons, stream lines, and trail lines. You have to zoom in fairly far for some of the datasets (e.g., contour lines) to display and be available for download. But it's pretty user-friendly.

With this data (and ArcMap) I was able to make a custom map of the Beaverhouse/Quetico/Cirrus area.

quote bstrege: "Edit - It appears that procedures and licenses have changed since I signed up. I'm not sure how to access the contour data anymore. However, a lot of data is still available to the public - Open Data "

Thanks, I think this will help. I'll post more if I figure out how to use their WMS.

In addition to the other resources already mentioned, the following site is also a treasure trove of Quetico related data:

There's even a "Canada Maps Free" Android app. =) --Goose

If you need the actual data, you can get it from Land Information Ontario. You have to sign up for an account, which can take awhile since you have to mail in a form. However, once you get an account, there is a bunch of useful data that you can get, including contours and elevation data.

Edit - It appears that procedures and licenses have changed since I signed up. I'm not sure how to access the contour data anymore. However, a lot of data is still available to the public - Open Data

You can get online maps with topography through the Atlas of Canada website:

Atlas of Canada

You need to zoom in a lot for the topographic lines to show.

Interestingly, some of the contours are in feet (50 foot intervals) and some are in meters.

There is also free geographic data available at this site:

Wondering if there's a WMS (or download source) for topographic data (DRG) and aerial photography of the Quetico region.

Maybe we're just lucky that we have this type of stuff in MN

I've been poking around the OMNR website but so far haven't hit on anything like this. Thanks in advance for any suggestions in tracking down Quetico imagery.
