06/16/2014 11:34PM Great photos guys! I really like looking at how you outfit your boats. I always find it so interesting. Then Jennifer Lopez started dancing on the Tonight Show and I was almost lost to her until I saw that pizza. Most gosh, it sure looks "Heavenly" to me! Did it taste just as great as it looks? |

06/01/2014 05:16PM We may have seen you go by. We were base camped on Brent near the bay that has the creek running in from Conmee. The only canoes we saw were on the evening of the 24th or 25th, I forget which. We just got back yesterday. What a great week for weather and fishing. |

05/31/2014 11:17AM linkster......here is a link to bog... bog You can see the portage going south across the middle (the boardwalk part). Then you skirt the treeline and you can see a small white line the just cuts off the very tip of the bog. You can follow the woods on that last part, but there are some game trails that branch off and confuse you. After crossing the boardwalk, the trail splits. You can see the right part that goes up into the woods much easier than the trail to left that skirts the trees/bog. We did not take the right trail because our research said it was a tougher route. The split is right at the treeline. I did not see the other route join up with ours. It must hit the southern lake at a little different place. |

05/31/2014 08:21AMquote linkster: "Trip sounds awesome. Can you share any specifics on the infamous "Boggy Portage" between Grey and Unamed to Shade? I will will going through there in a couple of weeks with the 2 boys and the outfitter made it sound iffy this time of year because of the high water level." it was a little tricky due to some forks in the trail....not due to the bog. Crossing the bog on the logs was ok....I threw my canoe down and drug it while I log hopped. Coming south, after crossing the main bog, we took the left fork which skirts the edge of the woods....then took another left fork that cuts off a little tip of the bog. Then its uphill to a flat (that had some downed trees we had to sneak around) then downhill to lake. We were headed SOUTH during this. |

05/27/2014 03:34PM We had a GREAT Time! Cold the first couple nights, I think the Weather Map showed a low in Ely our first night out at 25 degrees, and the High on our last day was 85 degrees so quite a difference from begginning to end. Also, going in the Birch were just a tan and coming out a lot of them were popping green leaves! Awesome trip with Awesome friends SunCatcher |

05/26/2014 04:27PM I would like to hear more about Marj and Joyce. Those are two lakes that are hard to reach and look very beautiful on the maps. Ted is a Gem. Tom |
