Sunday lake story I will never forget.

It was a late ice out in May of 1996 and you couldn't even get to Burke lake via the west portage from Baily bay because of ice and so a few extra parties were ending up on Sunday.
It was a real hot day and we were trolling by the tall island on the lake and here sat a gentlemen taking it easy in the shade, his buddies dropped him off for a break. We were talking and he said this will be my last trip to Quetico.

It just sticks with me what the gentlemen said, and at many of campsites I will look out across the water and am very thankful I will have a few more trips in me.

Been very lucky and blessed to visit such fine places, don't ever take it for granted.

Hi Chicago Boys. It was nice to meet you at PP. Glad you found our little spot in cyber world

Tim - If you go through Burke Lake it's a very easy trip! 2 Portages with one being so short you don't even have to unload the canoe!

Sunday seems like a great spot to take a younger son because he'll definitely get to experience reeling in some fish.

A fair amount of what we caught weren't monsters but still a blast to catch and release.

Safe travels and enjoy! Start em out young with a good trip and lots of fish you'll have a camping buddy for life!

On the NW side of Sunday lake there is a cove that is filled with bass. Pepper the shore with crank baits and you will have them biting all day. A few mosquitoes in that area so bring some bug spray, but the cove is great for fishing.

Thanks for the update. Myself, my wife, and 7 year old are heading that way this year. It really helps to read posts like this. I tend to have the mentality I need to travel 10 portages and 20 miles the first day "to get away".... I realize with a 7 year old that mentality will probalby be his last trip :) There are great trips just traveling short distances.

Wow, just spent the last week bouncing around Lake Sunday and let me say the fishing was premier.

Walleye in the morning, trolling for Lakers or hit the inlets for Bass during the afternoon then crown out some more Walleye in the evening.

Really had tremendous luck trolling for Lakers using 15-18 ft Neon Rap Shads. At one point in the afternoon we hit 3 10 lb Lake Trout on 3 passes of about a 1/4 mile so they were really biting.

Bugs were pretty heavy on Sunday which I had heard were not nearly as bad on other lakes.

4 of us spent 4 nights and caught on average about 30 fish a day as a group.

Great trip and can't wait to head back next year and share this incredible country and fishing with another group of buddies.
