We got the western site on the right as you enter the bay with the nice beach. We went to several island sites and found that one to be the best. The fishing was not real great from camp, just NP mostly. Plenty of good bass fishing in the little bays around McKenzie though. Didn't see any walleye. I wish we could have explored the east arm of the bay more. Wife was tired of paddling.

Visited McKenzie Bay in early June and spent several days there as the only group.
Pretty awesome body of water all by itself. Where did you camp?

In and out the same way adding the man chain 6/25 to 7/3. The falls were really moving water.

Loved those portages, too.

Great trip and privacy like you said.

I forgot to mention that we went in and out through the Falls. Water was high, so going towards the falls through narrow channels was dicey, especially on Kenny Lake. Be sure to not get broadside to the current or eddies if you attempt this. Catch eddies and dig through whirlpools with the bow pointing into waves. We did it fine with my wife in the bow of a MNII Kevlar UL. My backside was puckered a few times pretty good.

We just got back and got the gear put away. Great trip, although much rain. We had McKenzie bay all to our selves for almost a week. A moose crossed the lake in front of our canoe, and the loons had chicks (little cuties). I got tired of catching Northern Pike. Only one walleye and several bass, all on tubes. Is there any reason to take other lures? My new Nemo Losi 3p was a mistake. Leaked, glued on Velcro tabs on rain fly all fell off, and despite the extensive mesh, air does not flow through this tent. Also, the mesh is defective, like it was singed during manufacture. The zippers are not durable either. This is a limited lifespan tent and requires seam sealing (just remove the Velcro tabs on the rain fly as they will fall of anyway) before use.

On the bright side, we were thrilled with the Helinox chairs we took this year. They don't work on soft ground, but we had no problem finding rocky areas on which to sit. Very comfy.
