If I recall correctly, this year (2014) they were originally scheduled to open Friday, May 16, but pushed it back a week due to late ice out. I may have the exact day of the week wrong, but it was definitely around then. The original planned opening date is probably a good indication of what it will be next year, barring another late ice out.

quote GraniteCliffs: "When does the PP entry station open? I suspect May 16, a Saturday, or the day before. But I have not been able to verify that. Anyone know for sure?"
I want to say on a Friday or maybe even Thursday. Pretty sure it is not Saturday.

I just read the dates for the PP station on some web Quetico web site but forget and it was I believe for 2014. I'll bet if you call the office they'd love to tell you.

Nope, not sure either. But late ice-out would hasten their opening too. Gawd, let's not talk about late ice-out again.

That said, I suppose you could leave your money in the drop box if they aren't open yet.

I'm not sure of the answer to your question, but I know *exactly* what you're talking about. I bring multiple maps on every trip, and part of my fun while on a trip is sitting on a rock or in a tent, drinking tea or whiskey or hot chocolate or coffee, looking at trips to Wabakimi or Quetico or Woodland Caribou or the BWCA.

I might go to those places next year, I dunno, but much of the fun is planning the next trip, and I bring "back-up fun" on my trips--especially solo trips--in case I'm stuck in camp for a few hours or more. I just like maps; I don't know why. :)

It didn't take long this year. Back from my last trip a couple of weeks ago. On our noon hour run today our conversation drifted to next year's Quetico trip with the guys from work. We planned a route as we ran and started to zero in on a date.

One question I think I know the answer to but figured someone here would know for sure - When does the PP entry station open? I suspect May 16, a Saturday, or the day before, but I have not been able to verify that. Anyone know for sure?
