Thanks for the info. I used to tow my canoe to American Pt and take day trips into Cache Bay once in a while. I've always wanted to fish that N.E. arm of Ottertrack and thought maybe a day trip was an option if I could get through this way. Going down along the Border would be too far for a day trip.

Hello We have been going to that area for the last few years - mainly base camping from the campsites in the NE corner of Ottertrack. Banta has Lake Trout fishing but those portages - into Banta, then Banta to the no-name lake, then into Ottertrack are not used very often with lots of deadfall and hassles along the way. It's actually much easier to skirt the US border and go the long way around. The condition of that section has really worsened in the last few years IMO.

Do any of you Quetico travelers know if people go right to Ottertrack from Cache Bay via this route? Additionally, is Banta accessible from Cache Bay? I know people access Banta from Ottertrack.
