02/19/2016 12:11PM Scott, Am interested in your May trip as I plan to do the same this fall - Omeme and Bearpelt. I have been to Omeme several times - but not in the last 5 years. Much has changed and access is much more challenging than before. Would be willing to share all my historical info if you are interested. Send me an Email on the "letter envelope" icon beside my name. Old Hoosier |

02/18/2016 08:42PM Good evening, As I shared in another post, I grew up in MN with a border lake family cabin on sand point. My dad and I made several trips into Quetico fishing in the 1970's and 80's. All where in July or August. Very fond memories. Last year, on a family reunion to Sand point, my son got the bug to take a canoe trip with me to NW Quetico so I did a scouting trip last Sept to make sure the routes were still passable and we are a go for this summer. He is a college student and not sure about summer work schedule, so our safest bet is to go right when school is out last week of May. I know the weather will be a crap shoot, but I am most concerned about fishing. Any reports you can share about what to expect or what works best would be greatly appreciated. We enter through Beaverhouse, on to Omeme and Bearpelt if possible Thanks! Scott |
