11/29/2016 03:39PM even if plowed, it may not be passable, I once went for a weekend on Clearwater, the road was plowed as was the parking lot (which they obviously used to turn around in) but heading back I barely made it, warm/freezing cycle left the road like glass, and it is a windy hilly one, pay attention to where you park, you may not be able to move from that spot when you get back also, one time I headed in on a road that was plowed, by the time I headed back it had snowed and wasn't plowed, that was OK I was able to get up enough speed to make it thru spots I otherwise wouldn't have made it, there waas no stopping, that's for sure, when I got to where the road met the main road some jerk had parked across the intersection, probably thinking since it isn't plowed, nobody is going to be coming out. I gunned it and managed to make it thru in front of him. He's lucky I didn't get stuck, his nice pretty pickup would have not been so pretty. Use your head when you park please! |

10/06/2016 09:08AM There is a thread below this one called "Moose Lake Entry". See HappyHuskies response. I also looked through the sticky thread, and poked around up there in winter trying to figure out what is plowed. But, to me, it takes $$$ to keep something "always" plowed, versus just hit or miss. So Moose, Fall, Snowbank, and lake one per HappyHuskies seem to be plowed for the dogsleds and partially motorized ice fishing access cuz that brings regular traffic. Also, if you find a lodge that is open that will also have regular traffic, and you may be able to pay and park. I've pretty much decided it's Moose or nothing for me, cuz I just don't want to have to think about parking or plowing or needing a jump. Limiting as that is. |
