12/31/2016 02:37PMquote SevenofNine: "I thought I would add one more item that a friend made on a trip. A premodern breakfast biscuit. Think McDonalds sausage McMuffin with egg and cheese. He boiled it in a bag. Worked good." I have done this too, and I like it! |

12/30/2016 12:19PM For breakfast I've pretty much gone to bagels with lots of butter, sliced ham, and OvaEasy. Earlier this month I went out for 4 days and also brought some cream cheese and a hunk of smoked salmon - those were excellent bagel-toppers. For dins, BiB stew or spaghetti are standard, but love to toss other things in there. I like 7of9's idea of Korean Fried Rice. I also like to remake a calzone - the crust on the stove gets wonderfully crunchy. I've also made Northern Pike Phad Thai, and Moroccan Walleye Tajine. |

12/28/2016 10:36AM I like to do a lot of the meal prep at home. I also bring things that I usually can't in the summer because you know... refrigeration.... Breakfast - I make pre-made breakfast burritos that I simply warm up over the fire grate or on a frying pan. (Eggs, Sausage, peppers, onions, and cheese). Lunch - usually snack type stuff. Trail mix/beef jerky (Krave brand), nuts, dried fruit. Depending - I might pack a few pre-made sandwiches. Dinner - Premade soup/ or / chili. Rolls, the pretzel rolls are super good. |

12/27/2016 10:38PM Nothing beats hot soup and the much needed liquids in the winter, also a old standby for me is a good gorp of peanuts,M & M's and raisins-many times it gave me a instant boost of energy. |

12/27/2016 10:03AM Granola cereal, in warm milk for breakfast. I like regular Nido powdered milk. Other wise about the same, bring some pre-cut beef, supplementing the packaged dry soups and let it boil a couple hours over a fire. Chocolate milk, coffee, anything with low bulk and weight. (the beef is my luxury item) Addendum: scoop some of the good beef bouillon that comes soft in jars into a baggie for the soup. Mmmmm. |

12/26/2016 08:59PM I know there are some threads on this, but I do believe it has been awhile and I am bored. Actually, restless is more accurate as I am heading out tomorrow for the next few days to enjoy the winter. Curious what you folks bring along to eat. The following are some of my meals for... *Oatmeal and bacon for breakfast (occasionally eggs that I have cracked and put into Ziplock Freezer bags that can be boiled) *Bagels (easy to warm up over a fire0 *Honey *Cheese *Beef Sausage *Plenty of tea and coffee *Anything I can boil in a bag (Byerly's soups are great for this) *Soup (homemade and stored in Ziplock Freezer bags that can be boiled) *Stew (homemade and stored in Ziplock Freezer bags that can be boiled) *Chocolate *Nuts |
