01/23/2017 09:30AM #14 Lynx is a beautiful lake and offers a number of day trip fishing options. Devil's Cascade is a must see, especially during spring and early summer. #16 Nina Moose is visually unimpressive but offers opportunities to see moose. Ramshead offers good northern fishing and seclusion. Oyster Creek is a nice paddle and the portage into the lake is one of my favorite portages. |

01/22/2017 01:36AM If you select EP 16 there are two features near the entry point worth pointing out. Going north from EP 16 there is a spot on the east side of the river before you get to Nina Moose called Top of the World. It is worth the climb to see the view from the top of that hill. Additionally there is a spring on the west side of Nina Moose roughly 1/2 way between the portage on the SW corner and the southern most camp on the west side. The water comes up from the ground within 10 yards of the lakes edge and is ice cold and very refreshing. I'd agree with boonie that Mudro is the most scenic, unless you plan to get all the way up to Rocky and Gebeonequet from EP 14 or 16. Those lakes are among my favorites. |

01/21/2017 04:20PM I agree with Dean L -of the 4 routes Gabro is usually a little busier. The other 3 are great and each have their advantage. Keep and eye on permit availability and the dates you need. That might be the deciding factor. |

01/21/2017 03:52PM 1) Oyster is great, Rocky to the north has a pictograph and the portage out the west side gives you access to the Sioux Hustler Hiking Trail. 2)Lynx is also a nice choice. If your in the neighborhood a loop from EP 14 to EP 16 can easily be done in 5 days. If you have 2 vehicles or don't mind walking a couple miles this loop is great. 3)Fourtown has decent fishing but can get busy as well as Horse. You may find slightly more solitude one lake to the west in Boot. 4)Gabbro and Bald Eagle seemed really crowded the one trip I took to that area. |

01/21/2017 02:34PM They are all nice. I have been through all of these and my ranking would be: #1- E.P. #14 #2- E.P. #23 #3- E.P #16 #4- Bald Eagle/Gabbro This ranking is based on the parameters you placed on each. IMHO the first 3 are really close. |

01/21/2017 12:57PM OK I have a very similar post to this on the fishing page but for scenery which of these routes will be the best. Solitude is a factor however it's a low priority.what would you guys recommend. It's my first trip it will be early June 5 days 1. Lynx lake base camp out of ep14 explore the local lakes to that area. 2. Loop ep 16 spending time on Nina moose, oyster and ramshead. 3. Base camp fourtown ep 23 and explore the lakes local to it. 4. Base camp gabbro or bald eagle ( can't remember ep)and explore the lakes in that area. Any help would be appreciated also if you have must see things in these areas like Pictish falls ECT pls let me know of where they are located. Thanks |
